The Malta Hotels and Restaurants Association was formed in 1958, with the intention of bringing together all persons owning, managing or operating a hotel or restaurant. The main objectives of the Association are:
- To promote and safeguard the interest of its members, through joint actions and initiatives;
- To represent faithfully and accurately the interests of its members in dealing with Government Authorities, Travel Agents, Tour Operators and other Constituted Bodies.
As a major association of its kind in Malta and Gozo, the MHRA represents the interests of its members on several important national policy making bodies, such as the Malta Tourism Authority, the Institute for Tourism Studies and the Malta Council for Economic and Social Development. In addition, the Association maintains close contact with Government Ministries, bringing to their attention the several problems facing this most important industry.
